Wiki Recipes:Copyediting Guidelines

Some articles need to be copy edited to improve spelling, punctuation, grammar and overall style. Here are our guidelines for copyediting an article:

  • Look for grammatical errors. These include common mistakes with you're and your, than and then, etc. If you see these mistakes, change them to the more appropriate form.
  • Look for spelling errors.
    • If there is a word spelled in British-English form (for example, colour instead of color, don't correct that mistake). Different contributors come from different countries.
    • Correct sentences in ALL CAPS. The reason why we try to avoid this is because it is considered as shouting online. Try using italics or bold instead, or just pit the sentence in all lowercase if appropriate. Apply the {{caps}} template to the author's talk page (or whoever edited the page).
